WordPress Wednesdays!

A blog I have been completely gripped to this past week is Hopes and Dreams.

I think I stumbled across it through a link on Pinterest, but ever since I did, I have read it word for word, right back from when it started in November 2009.

This blog is written predominantly by Jessi, wife to John.  Although, John does get his word in every now and again!

In a nut shell (I wouldn’t want to ruin the story for you, obviously you are going to hop right over there once you have read this..) Jessi and John are Latterday Saints and met from a distance at church (I am saying this all in my own words so if anyone feels the need to correct any of the deets then please do comment!) following a rather lovely first date, they got to know each other more and John popped the question.. wedding to follow.. baby to follow that..

That’s all you’re getting from me on the story front, you will have to go and check it out for yourselves for all the nitty-gritty.. They are the perfect level of cute, cheesy, romantic and real.

Anyway.. a post that really caught my eye was this one.

I feel I can relate to it on many levels.  I am sure I am not the only one who has read blogs (Hopes and dreams included) and thought ‘I wish my life was that hunky dory..’ or looked through Facebook photos and thought ‘why isn’t my life so exciting and adventurous!?’

But in reality?  neither is theirs (as in anybody’s.. not Jessi and Johns.. I am pretty sure theirs is amazing!) but you get my drift.. and the drift of Jessi’s post.

No one has a Facebook album entitled ‘The Bad Times’ do they?!  People post the good because that is what is important to focus on.

Everyone faces trials and tribulations, granted, some more that others, but people don’t like to boast about them.

Anyway, I guess what I am saying is this post was a real eye opener for me.

It was a chance for me to realise that I am not the only weirdo out there that thinks everyone else’s life is perfect. Continue reading

Musical Mondays!

Since my first Musical Monday’s post a few weeks back, I have not had a chance to make this a regular feature but lo and behold!  Here it is again.

Try and contain your excitement.  No, seriously.

So, topping the UK chart this week we have:

Will.I.Am – This is Love

I have mixed feelings about this.  There are parts of thing song that I like however Will.I.Am has seriously gone down in my estimations over recent weeks.

When he starred on The Voice UK I found a love for him I didn’t know I had.  Then, as if by magic, he took over the UK and appeared EVERYWHERE.  First, he ran with the torch (I am sorry but the whole point of the torch was that the runners were nominated for being an inspiration in their local community *cough*Will.I.Am’s not local*cough*) then he sang happy birthday to the Queen, this would possibly be less annoying if he could actually sing and if he had not called her ‘your highness’ as she is, in fact, your Majesty.  And if this was not enough THEN he goes and refers to Cheryl Cole as, I quote ‘The pop princess of England’.  I am sorry, but this is just too much.

Moving on..

Maroon 5, Payphone

Has dropped one place down to number 2 in the UK charts however it is still dominating the world charts with its number one spot.

I must admit, I am a HUGE fan.  I have always like Maroon 5 and generally enjoy most of their music however this one has to be my most recent favourite.

On a Carly Rae Jepson note, she is still taking over the world with her

Carly Rae Jepson – Call Me Maybe

Still holding the number 1 spot in more than 4 countries world-wide, including the States, she is doing pretty well.

As you know I have just returned from my holidays.  Canada is lovely this time of year by the way.

Anyway.. I happened to see her perform at the free Sound of Music festival in Burlington.  If it wasn’t for her extremely goofy and cringe worthy comments between her songs, she was pretty good. Continue reading

WordPress Wednesdays

So, I am going to be honest, I have been a little busy. And when I say ‘a little busy’ I mean, I haven’t actually been in the country for the past 7 days (by the time you are reading this anyway..) so I have pre-written 10 days worth of blogs (today is in fact … Continue reading

Musical Mondays!

I am not sure about the rest of the world but here in the UK, our music charts are aired on a Sunday evening. Monday’s will therefore become the very originally named ‘Musical Mondays!’ Every Monday I shall post a selection of ‘Number Ones’ from around the world. (I have kind of decided that this … Continue reading
